I met my now husband over 23 years ago. At first we were friends. Many years later, we reconnected and became a couple. He is my best friend and we have been together almost twelve years. He proposed to me on my Birthday in 2007.
We started to talk about where we would marry. We had a family vacation in July 2007
where we spent 1 of our 2 weeks in Clearwater. We fell in love with Florida!! There are so many places and things to do in just the St Pete/Clearwater area. Where ever you are in the area you are so close to all the activities.
So... On December 23rd, 2008 we married on SandKey Beach. We share 3 children between us. Our immediate family joined us in Florida as well and we made it a combined wedding-family vacation. The weather in Florida was just perfect for us, we couldn't have dreamt of a more beautiful day or place to wed. We had Weddings on a Whim plan and set up our beach ceremony. One of the highlights was where we had sea shells distributed, so that our guests could then give us their blessings and prayers, then they were collected at the end of the ceremony for us to display in our home as a keepsake. We also had a family prayer where we stood together in a heart carved in the sand, held hands and repeated a prayer.
After our beach ceremony, we headed off for an amazing 3 hour dinner cruise on the Gulf of Mexico, you could see the Clearwater skyline at night. Since our wedding was in December, the ship was decorated for the Holidays! They had a great duo performing all the best hits, we had a blast! I would highly recommend Florida for your destination wedding.
